Charlie, Yeti, James and Neil all met up at Pu’u Loa to do some gorse spraying. We managed to re-spray everything we had sprayed at the last meeting up there. There had been some regrowth and new starts but in the end, “we got em”.
Neil sprayed inside the Pu’u at the top and we moved down the access road spraying approximately 20 to 30 feet from each side of the road all the way down past the Koa tree by about 100 feet until it started raining. Due to the heavy drizzle (rain) we had to call it a day and may have to touch up that portion again on our next spray date.
In communication via email with Mike Robinson he informed me that the gorse was flowering and when it’s done we can plan another spray date. I will meet him up there to discuss this matter and set a date which I will forward onto all of you for a volunteer effort. I discussed with Mike also the possibility of taking him on a tandem from Hookomo so I will ask Scotty or Shawn to assisst with that and I will fly to video the first official trial “legal” flight from that Pu’u.
As some of you know I volunteered to become interim secretary for BISA as John Ivey is moving back to the mainland permanently in mid December. We wish him great and safe flying and applaud all his diligent and fruitful efforts to establish such a wonderful relationship with Mike and the DHHL, mahalo nui loa John, ALOHA
